Brandon Ray was raised in Dallas, Texas. From an early age he was more comfortable spending time outdoors than indoors. Soon his passion for being outside grew into a love for hunting and shooting.
When he turned 15 years old, Brandon accomplished the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. That same year he shot his first-ever deer, a small whitetail doe, shot instinctive with a compound bow in Central Texas. Shooting that first deer was nothing short of a life changing event.
After graduating from high school in 1989, Brandon attended Texas Tech University. In 1994 he graduated with a degree in Range Management and a minor in Art. That same year he had his first-ever article published in a Texas hunting magazine. Since then he's had over 400 articles published in state and national outdoor magazines.
