I grew up hunting in the mountains of Eastern Oregon where I started tagging along with my father at the ripe old age of 4. At age 12, I was able to harvest my first big game animal, a beautiful 4×5 mule deer buck and with that harvest, the passion for hunting that had been instilled by my dad would never leave my blood. A few years later, I was introduced to what September in the high country meant and I have been an obsessed archery elk hunter every since. Although I am an avid hunter of whatever is in season, the September hustle of calling in rutting bull elk is what I live for!
In 2012, a friend of mine asked me if I’d like to start filming my hunts and putting them on You Tube for everyone to see…I said sure, why not and with that, Switchback Outdoors was born and a whole new and exciting challenge to hunting was made. Over the last several years we have had the opportunity to share our passion and experiences with many people and from this, we gained many friendships that otherwise may never have happened!
I currently work for the Oregon Department of Transportation in Hermiston, Oregon where I have lived for the last 18 years. I am very blessed to be married to my best friend and hunting partner Samantha Gangler. She is the driving force behind almost everything I do and always finds a way to keep me motivated when the chips are down. Together, we have two children, Gracie and Gabe who we actively include in as many of our adventures as possible, whether its recovering a bull elk off the mountain or shooting a 3-D tournament.
